The year 1857 witness a very important event which undoubtedly, occupies a unique place in the annals of Indian freedom struggle. The epoch has been coined as Mutiny, Revolt, Uprising or even First Wat of Independence. This premier attempt of the Indian people exposed the British rule in India from its very foundations. One of its chief results was the firmer establishement of British power in India and the transfer of administration of the Indian Empire from the hands of East India Company into those of the British Crown. Frankly speaking, ti ended in an era and sowed the seed of a new era.
