About the Book
This book presents a panorama of Indian publishing through the story of eighteen Indian langauges including English. Thus it seeks to establish the vibrancy of the publishing scene in India.
Part one of the book contains chapters on the eighteen langauges and these have been written by eminent writers who are experts in the field. They encompass the story of the evolution of publishing in each langauge, presenting a sweep of the work done not only a sixty years after the independence but also present an overview of the tasks accomplished in the years prior to independence.


About the Author
Dina N. Malhota, Chairman, Hind Pocket Books and pioneer of Paperback Revolution in India has prepared this volume with a deep sense of dedication to Indian publishing. He is the recipeint of UNESCO's International Book Award for 1988; Has been a UNESCO Book Consultant since 1966; President-Emeritus of the Federation fo Idnian Publishers and formerly Chairman of its Copyright Council; Member of the National Book Development Council of India; As a reputed expet in Copyright, he was the first Chairman of the Joint International Copyright Committee of UNESCO and WIP; Has conducted a number of Seminars on Copyright specially relating to piracy of Indian books; Honorary President of the 24th International Publishers Congress, New Delhi 1992.
