This book presents a panorama of Indian publishing through the story of eighteen Indian langauges including English. Thus it seeks to establish the vibrancy of the publishing scene in India. Part one of the book contains chapters on the eighteen langauges and these have been written by eminent writers who are experts in the field. They encompass the story of the evolution of publishing in each langauge, presenting a sweep of the work done not only a sixty years after the independence but also present an overview of the tasks accomplished in the years prior to independence.
